Video Presentation on Gender Issues in Distance Education
In my Principles of Distance Education course we had to do a video presentation. My presentation is on Gender Issues in Distance Education. Our objective is to introduce the keynote speaker at a conference in reference to our topic. Below is my video introducing Dr. Brandon Johnson.

I thought your photos were well chosen. I never realized that men enjoyed online learning more than women. How interesting because there are always more women than men in my classes!
Hi Peggy,
That is true,but from doing my research I have found that with our outside lives we have more things going on versus the men. The courses are designed by men so it is more user friendly to them.
Did you listen to it, I didn't video myself, I just used Audacity to record my sound.
Thank you again for all of the feedback, it has helped me with my course. As for my LA, it was approved, now I am going to start working on my first KAM.

Nice job! I also like your selection of photos to support your topic. Do you think though that the terminology used in online courses has more masculine connotations and therefore also gives them an advantage?

I did listen to your narration! I aplogize if I have been mispronouncing your name all along! Also, I thought that even though you found most courses are designed by men, the majority of K-12 teachers are women and online education in K-12 is growing. Also, the head of ED Tech at Walden is a woman, so I guess she goes against the odds. Interesting information, though!

The video is nice. If I keep plugging along I hope to make a video as professional looking. I have had more female instructors at Walden than male instructors over my two years here. I have also noticed there are only two male classmates in this course and I am the only male in the other course I am taking. The number of women in the the work force will mean that women in online education will become the majority.

Thank you everyone for leaving me the encouraging comments. When I chose Gender Issues, I wasn't share what to expect. Gender Issues in distance education has an effect on all of us that are taking these coulds of courses or instructing them. Try indeed, there are normally more women in the courses, but I know I find the layout not that appealling to me. I can be distant and uninvolved in the discussions. The men on the other hand participate and in some cases are the first to respond or leave a post.
We as women have many challenges that some men do not have to face. That is why Gender Issues are an important aspect of distance education. Doing this assignment made me aware of the differences that men and women experience when in online courses.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with and learning from you all.

Very informative!
Women were not accepted at the same level as men not even by the male members of the same nationality.
